Welcome Letter – Autumn 2025

Hello, and welcome to a new term of our skating school!

Our skate school has practices on Thursdays and Sundays. You or your child can choose to skate both days each week or just once. Each term concludes with an exhibition, either our Christmas or Spring show. Separate information about each show is sent well ahead of the events, but please don’t hesitate to contact us if something is unclear.

Possible schedule changes are published here on our website, so it’s a good idea to get in the habit of checking it every so often. On our website you can also find information about our club and our organizations policy, information about our focus on synchronized skating (figure skating’s team sport), ice dance and solo dance, read about our teams, as well as learn more about our regular exhibitions and competitions.

Of course the majority of our website’s information is in Swedish, but we also have a page with some information in English about our skate school, which can be found here. And, we have a general club information page in English here.

Contacting us is most easily done via email. We try to answer as soon as we can, though it can sometimes take a little time, as we are a non-profit run by volunteers.

Once again, a warm welcome to Nacka Teamåkningsklubb! We look forward to a lovely season on the ice with you or your child!

Both the training and membership fees are paid only via SportAdmin.

PRACTICE TIME
Practices go by quite fast, so please make sure to arrive at the rink 15 minutes before classes start to be sure to be on the ice in time. Remember that the skaters aren’t allowed to get onto the ice until the coaches instruct them to do so.

OUR COACHES
Our head coaches for each of the groups have completed Skate Sweden’s coaches’ education. Group helpers are skaters who themselves skate at a higher level.

SKATE SCHOOL BADGES (SKRIDSKOMÄRKEN)
In coordination with the classes, it’s possible to progress through Skate Sweden’s levels and purchase a badge for each level. Our shop also sells skate guards, club clothing and some other accessories as a fundraiser.

HELMETS
Helmets are obligatory and skaters are now allowed on the ice without one on. The helmet should be appropriately sized and the chin strap tight enough so that the helmet stays in place. A ”lekhjälm” or hockey helmet is best. Skiing helmets are not recommended, as they can make it difficult to hear the coaches.

SKATES & SHARPENING
The best way to start is with “real” figure skates made for beginners! These skates cannot be bought in normal sports stores, but rather should be purchased at a dedicated skate shop.

Used, good-quality beginner figure skates are a great option! Aim for skates like those shown to the top right in green, not those in red. If you need new skates, feel free to ask a coach for advice.

Don’t forget to get the skates sharpened!

The club has a limited number of skates available to rent in sizes 28-36 which can be tried on and picked up ahead of time from Vallvägen 38 in Saltsjö-boo. Contact us via phone (070-660 25 40) to arrange to rent skates.

The rental cost is 800 kr per season, of which 300 kr is a deposit that will be paid back once the skates are returned.

CLOTHING
Clothes should be warm, but flexible. Skaters should wear layers. Gloves and a hat are necessary. Exceptionally dirty clothes are not allowed, as sand/dirt on the ice will dull skaters’ blades.

PARENTS WATCHING CLASSES
Please stay to watch the lesson, but from a distance! The space nearest the entrance to the ice is only for coaches and skaters. We ask you to respect this because skaters are better able to concentrate if parents aren’t near the ice. Regardless, all parents are welcomed and encouraged to stay and watch!
